Wow!! I guess I have been out of the loop (not that I have ever been in the loop). :) Welcome Myth and SRE. O7
Yeah actually I did the reformat and reinstall thing just a couple of months ago. :)
Yeah It would seem the GPU replacement is the more logical short term solution. Thanks for the advice and info. I did do some more tweaking with eve settings last night and the "normal" FPS bumped up to 80-90 with fluctuations ranging from 50-120 depending on what I was doing and how far in/out I was zoomed. If my adjustments actually make a difference in battle then I will hold off on getting a new GPU until after vacation time in August. I hope to replace the MB /CPU /RAM and PS next year. My case is fine (coolermaster ammo)as are my drives...
Thanks for the input Sccleetar. All info is good info and no it's not to much. I knew when I bought the 9500 that it was not that great for gaming (it was replacing a fried 7800gt.). I probably should have just sucked it up and bought a more expensive card then. I do have a pci express slot so that is good. The other thing I would have to look at if I upgraded my card is my power supply. If I remember correctly it is only 450-550 watt.
So you really don't think the CPU is the bottneck? I thought I had read somewhere that EvE was a more CPU ...
Ok, so I am looking at extending the life of my PC for cheap (less than 200 USD) until I can actually afford a new one. My PC is about 5 years old and I have maxed out the RAM (4 gig) and have a 1 gig 9500gt VC.
I was doing some testing while playing eve yesterday and my CPU goes to 100% usage when playing (not sure if thats normal). I am thinking about getting a low end cpu/MB combo at some place like Tiger direct. I currently have an AMD Athlon 4800 single core processor.
I see some amd athlon II x4 300-350 series quad core combo's for li...
Thank you for joining ROSS! We are stronger, our foes be doomed.
LOL thanks but at 1st I will probably be a weak link as I am realizing how "rusty" I really am. The 2 ships I lost already would not have happened 7 months ago. I find playing EvE is like being an athelete where "muscle" memory is very important. Also true FW I am finding is a little different than when I was in SF. I'll get the hang of it though just be gentle with me.
Hey Nat 0/ nice to see you again. Cap and Hanibal thanks for the kind words. I have submitted my application to the corp. If accepted please bare with me as I am a little rusty and I will have to restock my ship supply as I gave most away to former corpmates b4 I left scalding Pass. :)
I am an "oldish" vet coming out of a 6 month semi retirement that is looking into possibly joining you in the FW fight. I am a former member of NMTZ and for a short time Star Fraction (Scrap Iron Flotilla). I have extensive low sec and 0.0 combat experience and I have flown (and drank) with Pol Macsliebh. :) Another poster on this board Ravenight is how can you say it ,like a Son to me. :) Well anyways hope to see you all in space.
