As my name implies, I have more intentions then just to simply talk about dust. I represent a pre-release Dust alliance that is comprised of a number of competitive and intelligent console clans (as proven to be so on other games), while we have confidence in our abilities on the battlefield and our internal policies to assure organization and a cohesive structure, we are currently looking to outside connections.
I dont want to get into to much stuff, just want to know your thoughts on Dust (opinions, assumptions, questions), i know some eve players are angry about it because it has a good chance at disrupting the current power structures, but i think even more just haven't researched it at all and either don't care or just dont know enough to care.
I can promise you i have one of the biggest libraries of information on Dust, so I can help answer questions and provide links if there is info you feel is questionable (dont hesitate, not a problem for me).
Dust will have a direct effect on the eve economy, Dust players will be making corporations and alliances that can become major actors in the political struggles of Eve
Also, CCP seemed to give mixed messages on this (personally I believe its not to anger the eve player base) they have blatantly said dust players will have the power to independently take planet territory for themselves and build infrastructure on planets, not just serve as mercs. Where as the 'mixed' signals come from CCP often trying to emphasis the mercenary aspect of it, but not denying they have independence. So i put money on the devs speaking at E3 who blatantly said dust players dont have to be mercs, and can take planets/build infrastructure.
Its in an Eve corps/alliance best interest to start making connections at the very least, and a few are already taking significant steps to make their presence known.
Null sec/sov is a major aspect, an aspect our alliance will be focusing on, but fw is also going to play a role in the game. That being said, it isnt our intention to get too involved with fw except for the easy contracts that CCP said would be handed out for that warfare (by both player corps and NPCs). The beta may be focused around fw, as hinted in an interview yesterday... it will at the very least not a conventional beta as it will have a storyline aspect to it, but the practicality of that is so eve and dust players can have scheduled times when to meet up, so they can utilize the cross-game interaction.
There definitely seems to be a degree of fw that will be apart of the game but they havent focused on too much on that.
In either case it doesnt hurt to have contacts, for both economic, FW related, and unforeseen reasons.
It will be interesting to see how they link the 2 game formats together in cooperation. It is a risk to see whether or not console players will be as dedicated as those on eve and how it affects the logins to eve as well. It is a different play style from EVE to FPS.
I have about 16 planets that will need defending heh
Also it will be interesting to see how the mechanic works from high sec, low and null as well as whther or not eve players will be actively assisting ground troops like is seen in their promo video.
I think that even ccp hasnt fully wrapped their head around the scope of possibilities regarding the two and will have to learn like they always do through implementation and trial and error. This method unfortunately is often misunderstood and angers some ppl.
Well i do know they will be linking in-game chat, including comms, plus down the line I believe they have intentions to connect Dust players and the directly through space stations and the such, but that latter one is far down the line.
They say they already have the orbital strikes and planetary strikes working, and there have been closed conferences with reporters seeing it, they said it looked amazing but they didnt get to play it themselves and only watch. (apparently the battle commander in Dust, essentially the fleet commander in eve, sends up info for the strikes by finding the coordinates on a minimap of the battle field. They didnt see the eve end of it though, so couldnt tell you anything on your end, i assume they get the coordinates, or maybe the minimap too, and then its just a matter of point and click... and if they wanted to, miss-pointing)
And yeah, I think the reason why CCP hasnt released much info is because they are still wondering how much stuff to put in initially, what to leave out for now, and things like that. Will be interesting to see more official info when it releases, slowly but surely info is being released, there are new updates on it every month, but it comes in little pieces.
